AMD-640 chipset

The AMD-640 chipset, introduced in 1997, is a core logic chipset designed for Socket 7 platforms. It was licensed from VIA Technologies' Apollo VP2/97 chipset, providing compatibility with AMD processors such as the K6 series. The chipset supports standard Socket 7 features including a 66 MHz front-side bus and support for SDRAM memory. It was used in motherboards targeting AMD-based systems during the late 1990s.
