The Intel 440BX is a chipset introduced in April 1998 for the Intel Pentium II and early Pentium III processors. It supports Slot 1 and Socket 370 sockets and is part of the Seattle platform. Memory support is limited to SDRAM with a maximum capacity of 1 GB; it does not support 256Mbit SDRAM. The chipset is known for its overclockable front-side bus up to 133 MHz. It succeeded the Intel 440LX and was followed by the Intel i810 and i820 chipsets. The 440BX was also used in virtualization platforms such as VMware and Virtual PC.
