The chipset supports DDR4 memory with a maximum capacity of 64 GB across two channels, but does not support ECC memory. It provides 20 PCIe 3.0 lanes, 6 SATA III ports, 10 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and 14 USB 2.0 ports. The Z170 enables CPU overclocking and memory overclocking via XMP. It also includes Intel Rapid Storage Technology. This chipset is designed for use with Intel Skylake processors and is now discontinued.
