The ROG MAXIMUS IX EXTREME is an Extended ATX motherboard based on the Intel Z270 chipset. It features an LGA 1151 socket compatible with 7th and 6th generation Intel Core processors. The board supports up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory across four slots. Expansion includes two PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots, one PCIe 3.0 x4 slot, and one PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slot. Storage options comprise two M.2 slots and eight SATA ports. Rear I/O provides two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (Type-A and Type-C) and six USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Networking is handled by an Intel I219V Ethernet controller and integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MU-MIMO. Audio is powered by the ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC S1220.
