Memory support includes DDR4 with ECC capability, and both CPU and memory overclocking are supported. The chipset offers 6 SATA III ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1, and 6 USB 2.0 ports. It does not support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB4, or Thunderbolt. Integrated Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth are optional. The B550 is compatible with ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX form factors. It succeeds the B450 and is succeeded by the B650.
