The Intel Core i9-9940X is a high-end desktop processor based on the Skylake-X microarchitecture, manufactured on a 14 nm process. It features 14 cores and 28 threads, with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and a boost clock of 4.5 GHz. The CPU includes 19.25 MB of L3 cache and supports DDR4-2666 memory across four channels, without ECC support. It has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking and a TDP of 165 W. The processor uses the FCLGA2066 socket and provides 44 PCIe 3.0 lanes. It supports instruction sets including Intel SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX2, and AVX-512. Integrated graphics are not included. The i9-9940X is compatible with Intel X299 chipset motherboards and was launched with an MSRP of $1,387.
